Shanghai Wentong Chemicals Co., Ltd. (Wentong Group) is one of the largest manufacturer of potassium carbonate and a large producer of potassium nitrate in China.
Our company bears a history of 50 years. Like many other Chinese enterprises, we grow up along with the construction of the country and develop promptly in China's reforming and opening up to the outside world. The predecessor of our group, Shanxi Wenshui Chemical Factory and Shanxi Wentong Potassium Salt Co., Ltd., comparatively early and completely transferred from a state-owned enterprise to a stock-joint company with a modern enterprise system. Relying on the advantages in system, technique and culture, and exceptional coal resource, we moved out from Wenshui County of Shanxi Province to Taiyuan - the provincial capital city of Shanxi, and then setted in Pudong New District of Shanghai.
In 2003, we began to cooperate with nationwide big industrial base of potash fertilizer - Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Group and formed the enterprise organization structure of headquarter and marketing center in Shanghai, production base and technical R&D in Shanxi Province, resource and development extended to Qinghai Province. Now, we have around 4,000 employees with total asset of USD0.15 billion. The annual capacities of potassium carbonate reached 150,000 metric tons and the annual capacities of potassium nitrate reached 200,000 metric tons. And by-product of ammonium chloride reached 200,000 metric tons every year. In 2005, our group realized the USD0.15 billion of sales revenue, handled in tax USD25 million and we plan to realize USD0.19 billion of sales revenue in 2006.
