Our short film submission scheme
Our International Short Film Festival Submission Scheme enables
short film-makers to show their work at festivals.
To be eligible, films need to be less than 45 minutes long, less
than a year old and have a British director or producer.

When are the closing dates for the schemes?
The scheme has no closing dates. You can apply throughout the year.
Once you have submitted your film it will be at least three months
before it s viewed.
I have submitted my film - have you watched it yet?
It normally takes up to 12 weeks for the team to view a film and
process submissions. After this time if you want to check on its
progress please contact arts@britishcouncil.org.
FAQ - About this site
How can I submit a film to the British Film Catalogue?
Films can be added to the our Films Catalogue by completing the
form on this webpage.
Can you include my film in the Films in Progress section of
Britfilms.com?
Yes. Please email the details to arts@britishcouncil.org
Please note films in development will not be included.
I'm a director, can you list me in the Directory of Directors?
To be listed in the Directory of Directors you will need to have
directed at least one feature film that has received a UK
theatrical release, or been selected at an FIAPF accredited
festival (these are highlighted in our festival directory, or you
check on the FIAPF website). If you feel you fit this criteria
please email us your filmography including the production years,
agents details, awards and a photo of yourself to:
arts@britishcouncil.org.
How do I change the details for my festival's listing?
Go to the page the festival in the directory, at the bottom of the
page click on the 'update this information online' link. You will
need to have acces to the email address in the listing to change
the details this way.
I need to change the details for my festival but don't have access
to the email address listed, can you help?
We sure can. Email us at arts@britishcouncil.org and we'll fix it.
How do I submit a new festival to the festivals directory?
Festivals can be added to the directory by completing the form on
this webpage.
I have some great news I'd like you to publish in the News section
of Britfilms.com, where do I send my press release?
Send it to arts@britishcouncil.org, please note calls for entries
will not be published.
Do you have a mailing list? How do I sign up?
Yes, we do have a mailing list. You can sign up to it here.
I've spotted a mistake on your site, who can I get to rectify it?
Drop us a line at arts@britishcouncil.org and we'll fix it right up
for you.
